Do Migraines get better?
I am recovering from a stroke, I have severe migraines that mimic stroke conditions, and I have severe endometriosis. I am having surgery because of the endometriosis and heavy bleeding, but I have been told that the hysterectomy should cut down on the migraines. Has anyone else had this experience?

Do Migraines get better?
While I don't have migraines I have had several headache's sence my surgery. I have a friend that has migraines and she says that she sill has alot of them and she had her surgery for endo a year in a half ago. Sorry I know that is not what you want to hear. But then again she has 7 kids so that could be part of the reason she has so many. Everyone if different after this surgery so you could be one of the lucky ones. I will keep you in my thoughts.

Do Migraines get better?
I used to be able to count on a migraine or a severe headache in the days just before my period and/or just after my period. Since my surgery 8 weeks ago (for endometriosis) I have not had a single migraine or bad headache, just a few very minor ones. I am not on HRT. I'm sure my headaches were estrogen and menstrual cycle related, so if that's the case with you, your surgery might make a difference.

Do Migraines get better?
Hi Katharine
You didn't mention whether or not you are keeping your ovaries.
My mom and I had our hysterectomies about 3 years apart. My wonderful mom did pass the "migraine gene" on to me, so we both have suffered from awful migraines. Mine are more severe, as I get the "auras" and the problems with facial numbness, and vision and hearing problems during attacks, not to mention the light sensitivity and nausea.
So....here's the deal. My mom had her ovaries removed, as she was already in perimenopause. Since the surgery in 2001, she has had maybe 5 migraines in total....all triggered by weather. Me on the other hand....I kept my ovaries due to my age. I woke up in the hospital on day 2 post op with a raging migraine. Luckily, the morphine pump was still attached, so I just pushed the button and went back to sleep I have probably had 3 more migraines since surgery on June 14th, but I always had the "monthly migraine" anyway.
So....I think it has alot to do with hormones, and what your migraine triggers are. Mine are food and weather related, so I expect to keep having them.
I hope you are rid of them post-op. I know how horrible the pain of a migraine can be....so I'm sending you a big and wishing you the best.
Much love
Northlights
