4 Months

I haven't wanted to post on here , because it seems a lot of women have difficulties before, during and after surgery~~but that was not my experience and I did not want to be "rubbing salt in others' wounds!"

Friends and co-workers have told me I should post anyway.

Have been hesitant because I was not in any pain prior to surgery (complete hysterectomy, fibroids, prolapsed bladder, etc.) and could not have asked for my surgery to go any better. No pain meds in hospital afterward and did not have to fill pain prescriptions afterward. Went back to work after 3 weeks (surgery was April 11th, went back on May 1st).

I was thanking the Lord for that because I had been worried about having the surgery done!

My doctor was wonderful...in spite of his heavy Polish accent and talking fast (I would just ask him to repeat himself)! He was thrilled with the surgery, as well, because he said my bladder went back into place after he removed everything, so no bladder repair was necessary (I had told him I did not want any mesh used for bladder repair).

Even through my doctor recommended that I used the patch for hormone replacement, I decided to give myself some time to see how I felt before making a decision. Seeing as how I have been feeling so well, my current decision is to not use hormone replacement.

I wish everyone's experience could be like mine and feel bad when other women's experiences are not

Re: 4 Months

I don't think that women who have good experiences should hesitate to post. For one thing, the pre-oppers sometimes come and read post-op posts, and I've heard them complain that they wish more women who had good experiences would post!

For another thing, what if a woman who's having a good experience still needs support on what seems to her to be a minor issue? Maybe she's nervous about starting up sex with her husband again. Or she's having trouble finding work clothes that fit. Or she's recovering easily, but she's still worrying about what her post-op report will say re: cancer risks.

To me, it seems as if other women post good recovery experiences as well as bad, that will encourage women who've got "only" "minor" questions to go ahead and post and ask for the support they need - and deserve.

We also need to respect and support those sisters who are having a difficult time, for sure! But... if someone's got a broken leg, do you avoid talking about going for walks where they can hear you in case it makes them feel bad?

Re: 4 Months

I am 16 post op and before surgery I would read post op threads. It is nice to see the get up and go sisters as well as the ones who have had challenges, to give us ideas that it can be all over the place with recovery. The good, the bad all of it. All and all I fall somewhere between and in some ways quite well. I Am.grateful for the honesty and raw truth concerns and questions and knowing we are not alone is a God send.
