Seen the doctor now I have several questions

I had posted earlier about bleeding after my hysterectomy after having sexual relations and I was 7 months post op. I am 9 months post today. I had many complications with the Hysterectomy. I was so scared I did not want to get it checked. I did not want anymore bad news. I finally found a new Gyno and I went and seen her today. She did a pelvic exam and said that I had granulation tissue. She removed a few good sized pieces of tissue and showed it to me...(YUK!) it looked like scabs (SORRY) from a sore. She said it was granulation tissue and said it was a good thing. Now I am bleeding again as well as cramping.

1. What is granulation tissue?
2. How is that a good thing? I haven't healed.
3. She gave me some cream to insert in my Vagina next week. It is called Premarin. Am I supposed to use this in addition to the Vivelle Dot .01?
Best news I got is it is NOT a torn cuff!! Thank God and thanks again for your help sisters.

Re: Seen the doctor now I have several questions

Granulation tissue is where the body tries to heal from a wound(at least that is how I remember it). Think of proud flesh from a wound and that is what it is. It is supposed to be a sign of healing. So that sounds good. I think I would ask her about the Premarin because that has hormones in it. Not sure if you want both.

Re: Seen the doctor now I have several questions

It is unhealed tissue. They sometimes treat it with silver nitrate which is what my surgeon did.

Re: Seen the doctor now I have several questions

I agree with Zenyatta about the premarin. You might want to check to see if she will use silver nitrate instead.

Re: Seen the doctor now I have several questions

Hi sistershell,

I'm glad to hear that you don't have a torn cuff!!! I had to have two treatments of silver nitrate for granulation on the cuff. Both times I had spotting (black) and cramps afterwards, my doctor said it was normal for a few days. Did you have a treatment in the office? It's a good thing that she found what it is because she can remove it and you'll feel better. Here's an article about Granulation . I totally agree with zenyatta and Molly...talk to your doctor about the premarin and Vivelle patch.

Re: Seen the doctor now I have several questions

thank you Meka40 for the article and the info. I am still concerned about using the Premarin cream and the vivelle dot at the same time. Does anyone do that? I am feeling lost in the 'jungle' again and Just when I thought I was finding my way. I haven't had sexual relations for so long cause I am scared of tearing something up...lol..my poor hubby. He is so patient.

Re: Seen the doctor now I have several questions

I'd post your about taking Premarin and Vivelle on the Hormone Issues Forum....may get a better response. I'm sorry you've been having trouble...at least you're getting some help/answers now...it's time to get healed!!!

Re: Seen the doctor now I have several questions

my grandmother used Premarin instead of the patch because the patch gave her hives... I think it is an either/ or thing; you could always call the pharmacy.. They tend to know better about drugs/ interactions than doctors anyway

Re: Seen the doctor now I have several questions

Okay hers's what i have learned so you can use that to ask your dr any questions.

Vaginal esteogen does not go systemic like oral or patch estrogens unless there is severe vaginal atrophy. Many drs prescribe it to promote vaginal healing. I would guess you are using a very small amount and if the dr knows your are vivelle I imagine you are okay.

Never hurts to confirm with your dr.
