I'M freaking out

My neice called me today to find out if (Aunt Annette) is coming from Toronto this weekend. I did not know for sure. So I called my sister Annette to find out if she is and yes her and her DH are coming. They are staying at my house and she said that they will watch my kids for me b/c my DH has to work all weekend. She also said that she is watching my neices kids and that they are going to have a sleep over at my house while I am in the hospital. I am so mad I think I have steam coming out of my ears. I was planning on getting the house nice and clean and preparing a spot for me downstairs in the living room so I can stay were there is a bathroom and the kitchen. Well that is out of the question know because all these **** kids are going to be at my house and my sister and her DH are slobs do not clean up after themselves. I will have a ton of towels to wash from the pool and all of their showers. NICE. How can I say in a nice way that I do not want them all my house this weekend. My brother and I have already made arrangements to care for the boys and take them to hockey tryouts etc.. I really do not need them here.

I'M freaking out

Could you simply tell her you've already made arrangements for your boys & that you really need some rest when you get home. You might suggest them getting a hotel with a pool that way nieces kids will feel like they've gotten a mini vacation. Or is there a good camping area where they could enjoy the great outdoors with the kids?

If all else fails just be blunt, but civil about how you feel. I'm afraid my MIL is going to pull the same thing! Hope this spurred some helpful ideas.

I would just tell them the truth. They might get upset but explain to them that you already have everything planned out. They might get upset but they will get over it.

O'h no what a pain, maybe your DH could tell them that you have everything organised and you appreciate their offer but NO THANK YOU. This really is one time you need to put yourself and your needs first. I'm not going to tell my inlaws till the last minute so hopefully they will not come. They probably wouldn't want to come anyway because they only like to come and get waited on hand and foot, can't see them wanting to help in anyway at all lol. Good luck and hold your ground.

Ugh.. .double edged sword, nice of her to offer to watch the kids for you but you've already mae plans and it would be more of a hassle it seems then it would be worth! Haven't had any offers for help around here so not how I'd react to that one.. hahahaha. Good luck finding the words to express your feelings in a nice but firm way. Hugs!!!!

I'M freaking out

Its not a matter of wanting them at your house tell them you do not a have a choice that you cannot have anyone over during your recovery. You have strict drs order to have complete rest in order to recover from this major surgery! Good Luck? '

I'M freaking out

Well, I called my niece and asked her why she did not talk to me about it first and if she could find someone else. My niece did find someone else and said that my sister offered. My niece apologized and did not realize that I was having Hysterectomy. Thanks for all of your support. They got the better of my emotions.

I don't think our families intend on doing it, but they can often be quite inconsiderate! I hope that it all turns out okay. Good luck on friday... before you know it, you'll be on the road to recovery... YEAH
