Just a thought also, are you all on a good daily vitamin? Also to add, my doc and my mom , both told me if your hair is not coming out in "patches" more that likely vit definceincy or hormonal.

Re: losing hair, 4 mos post op

I had my hysterectomy Sept. 15th and have noticed that alot of my hair ends up on the shower drain.
I have also heard that surgery will do this but does anyone know when it is supposed to stop?

Good question, I was thinking the same thing. Is this going to slow down? I see the doc on Wednesday, I'll ask her then to see what she thinks. I'm thinking it's probably hormonal and caused by an imbalance. My hairloss started after I made the switch to lower my vivelle patch from .1mg to .05mg. I've since gone back to the .1mg due to very sad days but the hairloss hasn't stopped.

I am on 1.25 mg of Premarin and my hair loss has increased. I went from not being able to use a normal ponytail holder (used only be able to use a scrunchie) to using a normal holder and wrapping it around 3 times. VERY FRUSTRATING, my surgeon will not answer me back so come Feb. 4 I am going to lay it all on the table.

Re: losing hair, 4 mos post op

I had a total hysterectomy in May 2009, and have been fighting a non-stop battle. First, hair loss. Doc ran blood tests, thyroid, hormone, etc. Everything is fine.

I started eating more healthy, got a good haircut to lighten it up, and tried several shampoos, stopping with "Organix" shampoos from CVS - a little expensive but worth it for me. The hair loss stopped, and is bouncy and shiny.

I had an unexplained full body rash that the doctors couldn't figure out. Turns out (from process of elimination) that since surgery I've developed some kind of allergy to bar soap. I now use baby wash (yes, made for babies) instead, and the rash disappeared.

Now, I'm fighting weight gain. Not just a couple of pounds here and there, but I've gained almost 40 pounds since May. I am now needing to work out and change my whole style of eating; I've never weighed this much in my life and I feel uncomfortable. Hopefully I can get this under control - and soon!
