lupron then hysterectomy - when did your ovaries come back to life?

Soon to be 4 weeks post hysterectomy after 3 months of lupron injections for large fibroids. Wondering when my ovaries might return. Would love to not have hot flashes and feel like having sex again. Anyone else, advise?

Re: lupron then hysterectomy - when did your ovaries come back to life?

I had a 3 month Lupron shot, and my surgery was March 18th. My hot flashes just started to die down on the last 2 weeks. But everything else is slowly returning, not exactly there yet.

Re: lupron then hysterectomy - when did your ovaries come back to life?

I also had the Lupron 3-month shot prior to surgery. I wasn't sure if I was in menopause. I kept one ovary, but had insomnia, have no libido, and sometimes have hot flashes.

My doctor ran hormone test a couple of weeks ago and said that my levels are ok and that my ovary is functioning.

If you are concerned, ask your doctor to test the functionality. That will help guide your next steps.

Re: lupron then hysterectomy - when did your ovaries come back to life?

I had a my hysterectomy 16 April. Prior to that, I'd had 3 x Lupron which had put me into full menopause. I kept both ovaries. When I saw my surgeon for my post op check he was concerned that 10 weeks after the last Lupron implant that I was still feeling menopausal and getting hot flushes. He said his hunch was that my ovaries would not wake up, as can happen with a small percentage of women around my age (48), who have been put into full chemical menopause and then had a hysterectomy. He said I should have blood tests to check my LH and FSH levels in a month or so to see where I am. Like what everyone else here is saying, I had zero libido and just feel completely blank emotionally, plus the menopausal stuff. And I don't know if the horrendous fatigue I get every day is due to the menopause or if it's still a hangover from the surgery. That said, all weekend I've had a hormonal migraine and I'm wondering if it's my ovaries waking up and producing some oestrogen. I have suffered a lifetime of hormonal migraines and this feels very much like an ovulation migraine.
