NC home from the Castle!

I'm almost 5 weeks post-op and life is good! My TAH was on 7/12/05. I was in recovery a little longer than normal; my BP was very high so they had to call in DH to be with me/talk to me with the hopes of bringing it back down (I didn’t even know this until after I was awake & in my room; I’m blessed to have such a strong, supportive husband.) Then later that day I found out I was allergic to Morphine & Demerol. Once we got the meds straight I was "goodt" to go!

My DH has been very protective of me and anything I may do to harm my scar/recovery, so I've been behaving since being home. It's also been hard since I'm NOT a sedentary person. Our 2 kids (9 & 3) have been helpful - even my 3yr old son helps vacuum/carry the laundry.

I did have a minor set-back last week. I had a hematoma developing under my incision so the doc had to cut it open about an inch to drain it. I saw him 4 times last week! But I’m doing better now & will check in with him on Wed. at my 5 week post-op.

I've returned to work - part time. Now I'm anxious for the "all clear" from the doc to resume all extra-curricular activites. Plus, basketball pre-season is just around the corner!

Life is good... God has blessed me again! This whole experience was worth it!
