SEROMA - not to be confused with sarcoma

3 weeks post op from the DaVinci surgery and was diagnosed with a seroma. It's a fluid filled deal that landed in my right groin and hurts a wee bit. I called the doc and they had me come in to have a look. The doc wantedto make extra sure all was well so he sent me to the ultrasound people. I had to wait a day so...no sleep and goingto those dark places even though they said they got all of the cancer - 1A endometrial cancer. Had the ultrasound that seemed like it took forever and the sonographer said " are you sure they took everything" - meaning the full hysterectomy - yikes. That got my brain going into overdrive!!! I felt paralyzed but finally called the docthat afternoon for results and they said it was a seromaand to put my feet up as much as possible and ice it. I need to go back in 6 weeks for another ultrasound to make sure the fluid was re-absorbed by my body. If it isn't then theyhave to drain it - yuck. Cross your fingers that my body does the job!!!! Re: SEROMA - not to be confused with sarcoma

That sounds painful! However, I am glad that things are relatively benign in terms of possible diagnoses. Put your feet up and your ice on! Be well!!

Re: SEROMA - not to be confused with sarcoma

I have a seroma under my incision, too. Doctor has drained it twice and now I have to pack it with gauze every morning (not for the faint of heart!) to help it heal properly. I was told they develop when the outside heals faster than the inside and the fluid has no where to go but sit there. They are ugly and kind of painful. Hang in there! If it helps--since it mine has been packed, it looks and feels way better.
