any young sisters out there?

I am 24 years old and had my TVH on 6/15/05. I am just about 2 weeks post-op. I had a very hard and emotional time accepting that I was so young and having to end my child barring years. I was my GYN's only 2nd patient and my Oncologist's youngest patient to have cervical cancer. The pathology report came back the day after surgery showing NO cancer at all. I would have only had a 5% chance of the cancer returning -- we would have never known that but I would have spent the rest of my life wondering if it would have ever returned. See, I have two young children (1 and 2) and it meant more to me to be around for them, than to worry about the children that I may never even have. I am grateful that God allowed me to find this as soon as I did -- now it's done and over with and I can be assured that I don't have to worry about that ever again!!

me too!!!!

Wow!!! I thought that I was the only one this young having hysterctomy. 3 years ago when I was 32 and had a partial hyst. Kept my right ovary and tube due to no damage. And had already dealt with the pain for 5 years before that.
I am now 2 wks post op from a rectocele & cystocele repair along with a vaginal vault suspension and had my remaining ovary taken out due to severe endo on it. Now dealing with the surgical menopause. I have 3 kids ages 16, 14 & 8.
For those of you that do not have children, my heart goes out to you. My sister in law is just now finding out after years of dealing with surgery, infertility and all other kinds of treatment that she has polycistic ovaries and an upside down uterus and can never have children. And she is only 25. But thankfully, she adopted a little girl last year and everything is great with her and the baby.
Please keep your heads up and do not every get discouraged.
