3 weeks post-op and time for my period

Hi everyone,

I am 3 weeks out and back to work part time. I have been feeling great and off of pain meds for 2 weeks..until today.
I'm crampy and when I looked at the calendar I am suppose to start my period this weekend. I had a LAVH and kept my ovaries.
Anybody else experience phantom period cramps. They're not bad but annoying and I felt I needed the Motrin. It's kinda weird. Everytime I go to the bathroom I look to see if I've started.

Will this eventually stop when my body finally realizes there is no lining to shed or will I know each month that this should be the time because I still have ovaries. Just curious.

Thanks!

I had a TAH but kept one (good) ovary. During our Q&A with my DR my DH asked if I would still get pms.....funny huh?

Well, my Dr said I would still get a milder form of pms and everything else that comes with your period except the blood.

Since you have both ovaries you should fell alot of the same symptoms but ask your DR.

p.s. are you tired since you are back to work?

I have not experienced any phantom cramps but have experienced the emotional side of my period. I had some of the same cravings and some moodiness. I only kept one of my ovaries but always felt that I was estrogen dominant. I am hoping that one ovary will be just the right amount of estrogen for me!

I felt the exact same thing earlier this week, and even noticed the appearance of a ginourmous zit - sure enough, right around the time my period would have started. Never connected the issues though - thanks for the insight!

Everything but the blood? Hopefully not the unbearable pain! That's why I had this done was due to the pain which I'm hoping was caused by the fibroids that I don't have anymore.

And yes, I get really tired around 1pm when I get home from working a half day. However, I do think going back has helped me mentally!!! It's been good for me.

I am sure the pain will no longer be but a little bit of bloat and that "its coming soon feeling" .

I should have my period next week.....I'll let you know how it goes on this end!

3 weeks post-op and time for my period

Again, hystersisters to the rescue. I thought it was just me. I will be three weeks post-op on Monday. But starting last night I have been having periodic sharp pains ( I won't say cramps, just sharp pains) that made it hard to go to sleep. This afternoon they are back and keep waking me up from my nap (poor me) lol! Anyway I did keep both ovaries and my cervix but I am experiencing no spotting at all.

I never had cramps in the ovarie area until about 2 mo. after my surgery. Before it seemed like my uterus was in knots. The pains I have now are worse than the cramps before. They come and go, but when they come it makes me want to scream. I have to quit whatever I am doing until they go away, which usually isn't too long. I cycled around the same time as my best friend, so whenever I start to hurt, I call her and make sure we're on the same page!! I keep hoping that in time, it will get better or even stop.

I am so glad I read this thread last week. Last Thursday, I felt like my period was gonna start and knew it was not so strange. That coupled with the second day at work meant I felt BAD! I called and the nurse - she said it was weird ( I told her it was not so uncommon) to feel that much like my period was gonna start but a good sign that the ovary they left is working!
I hope the pain is less next month. I had hoped to be done with all that -at least it wasn't bad enough I needed vicodein like I did pre-surgery!
