muffin top above abdominal scar?

Hi Ladies,
Iam 3 1/2 post full hysterectomy (abdominal). Every time I stand I notice there is a muffin top (swollen area the length of the scar) above my scar - has anyone else had this and is ther anything I can do to make it go-a friend of mine said she had it with her c-section but it still concerns me as no one on the forum has mentioned it! (my outer scar is glued and I have internal dissolvable stitches but not sure when they disolve). Other than that i"m feeling good!!!!
Any ideas?
Thanks
Jenni

muffin top above abdominal scar?

Hi!

Just about everyone who has had an abdominal, has a muffin top. I know I do. There is nothing you can do right now to get rid of it. Patience is what you'll need. I've read some woman have it for months. I hope that is not the case, time will tell. I'm glad you're feeling good otherwise ((Hugs))

Can relate some...

I have to chuckle a little because I had the same thing after my total abdominal hysterectomy. I chuckle because I was mortified at how it looked and wondered if something was wrong or if that was how it was going to look forever. I kept obsessing about it and felt like I looked weird. I was even self-conscious about it around my now husband. It did seem to take a while to look more "normal" but it finally did. I guess it's just an awful lot of tissue, muscle, and such they had to cut through so probably just takes a while for all that stuff to completely heal. My doctor told me mine looked normal when I asked her about it. So, who knows...

Glad you are feeling good so soon after your surgery. Best wishes! Hope my experience helped some.

Add me to the muffin top list!! It's gross! i was actually wondering if it was fluid, as in swelling...
not to mention that the top of my scar for many inches is totally numb. Numb and muffin top. Lovely.

muffin top above abdominal scar?

Wow! I am SO glad to hear this!! When I had my post-op appt I had only lost 6lbs and I also have this muffin top syndrome - so I told the doc, "you didn't take enough out!"

I fortunate enough to have a nurse in the hospital who had gone through a TAH and told me that the numbness on her abdomen lasted for a year! So I didn't freak out when I discovered the numbness, but I did ask the doc about it, and he said it should go away in about 6 months.

Thanks Guys...

Thank you all for taking the time to respond-I feel normal now!!!!! Just thought I'd let you know that I have taken Milk Thistle daily since the op and it seems to be making the numbness pass quickly-I still have some below the scar but each day is a bit better (Milk thistle is used to remove anesthetic and drugs from the body....).
Thanks again ladies...

I've got one too. My numbness is getting better (although I feel like it hurts more in that area as it goes away) There is an explanation somewhere on here of the swelly belly that made me feel better. I know it isn't fat so I will just be patient and wait.

We could have Tshirts made....... "It's not fat OK??? I just had major surgery!"
