Belly button infection 3.5 weeks post hysterectomy.

I have a question ... I was told two weeks ago that I have a slight infection on my belly button from my laparoscopic hysterectomy from 3 1/2 weeks ago but to just use soap and water and it should get better on it's own. However now I'm noticing that I am very itchy and I have bumps that are on my stomach! It's really uncomfortable so I'm wondering if I should call the doctor today or just wait until tomorrow and try taking benadryl? I'm nervous about calling because when I called the office on Friday they almost sent me to the emergency room since my surgeon wasn't in the office. Any input would helpful

Re: Infection

Itching is a sign of healing. I don't know anything about the bumps. I hope you get some relief.

Re: Belly button infection 3.5 weeks post hysterectomy.

Hello I am almost in my 6th week and noticed a red rash in my belly button and around the left side of it!!!!!!' I have no idea what has caused this as I have had a TAH with an 8 inches abdominal cut and this rash is on the other side, not near the cut!

Thanks everyone!

It is actually hurting so this is the reason I'm more concerned. It was suggested to me that it could be yeast? But could it be on my stomach?? Whatever is may be I am really hoping to get some answers tomorrow because it's really uncomfortale

I always use dial gold liquid soap to clean the navel while in the shower and when I'm out rubbing alcohol in a qtip to clean again.

My incision opened up a bit and I've been using the above and adding neosporin and a bandaid while sleeping.
Looks and feels good

Re: Belly button infection 3.5 weeks post hysterectomy.

Last night I gave in and called the doctors office last night and spoke with the doctor on call because I was in so much discomfort from the area around my belly button! The Dr on call (who delivered both my boys) put me on antibiotic and a one time pill for yeast infections. The area actually looks/feels better this morning but now its draining and there is a little blood in the drainage. Thankfully I'm going to be calling the doctors office and going to see him this morning to see what he has to say.

I'm glad that you got some meds from the doc. Isn't is crazy that we have to worry about our belly buttons too! 😁
