Hysterectomy yesterday: Frequent urge to urinate & Puffy Eyes
I had lap with robotic assist. It is good to be home recovering. I'm relieved to have surgery behind me. I woke up every hour all night to urinate. I'm wondering if there is pressure on my bladder from swelling. I woke up to super puffy eyes and swollen hands. I hope that is normal.

Re: Hysterectomy yesterday: Frequent urge to urinate & Puffy Eyes
I would contact your doctor. It could be just that your bladder is just trying to get back to normal after being messed with/catheterized or it could be that you aren't emptying completely when you go. They can do a bladder scan after you urinate to see if you are retaining. It's worth a call especially this early on in your recovery.

Meant to mention that it could also be a bladder infection.

Re: Hysterectomy yesterday: Frequent urge to urinate & Puffy Eyes
Puffy eyes may be from the fact that you had DaVinci robotic surgery. I had that too. They tilt you backward about 30 degrees to allow the robot to better access your abdomen. Being tilted for that long (my surgery was about 90-120 minutes) may give you facial swelling. Don't know about your hands, though. According to surgical report they were kept at my side so DaVinci doesn't require your arms or hands in any particular place that would cause swelling.
Re: the bladder issues. By all means get tested to ensure you don't have a serious infection. It is still early days for you. My bladder was in shock and still kind of is at 7 weeks. I had the same symptoms. While I had white blood cells in my urine and thought I had a UTI they did a culture and found I didn't have a bad infection. It does get better. Even though its a pain in the neck to go so frequently, keep drinking lots and lots and lots of water. That and walking is the best thing for getting your system back to normal.
Best wishes to you for a speedy recovery!

I had the same bathroom issue...it ended up just being all the fluids they pumped in me and the extreme amount of fluid I drsnk when I woke up. I was SO thirsty! It only lasted that one night.
