Bladder Functioning Much Better?

I had LAVH on June 21 for my horrible bleeding and pain monthly. I am doing quite well on the healing side and just noted a new GREAT side effect of my hyst..

I realized that I do not have to go the restroom nearly as often as I used too. Yes, Im still drinking a ton of water but I used to run to the bathroom approximately every two hours and it was an URGENT thing. I decided to look up the female anatomy and how the bladder is situated within our bodies. I did NOT realize that the uterus sits on top of the bladder. I guess I knew that (Im an EMT and medical assistant lol) but had forgotten.

So I guess not having that big oversized uterus sitting on top of my bladder has really helped with the urgency and frequency. I hadn't even thought about that as an after effect (bonus!), I'm just glad to be free of the horrid periods that ruled my life.

Anyone else notice this?

Bladder Functioning Much Better?

Sandcroy,

I too had bladder problems prior to my hyster. I would wake up and be in agony having to urinate, yet I could not pass urine. I told my gyn who said he, "would not promise me that it was my uterus causing this problem."

Well, long story short, second day in the hospital, my gyn told me, "I'm SURE it was your uterus causing you the urniation problems prior to your hyster." (My uterus was 10 x nomal size and was "everywehre" and a "mess" according to my doc.) I told him I had already put 2 + 2 together. LOL

In fact, I was in such bad shape my gyn gave me a pain pump from surgery. My nurse who also sees my gyn assured me that NOBODY, and I do mean NOBODY gets a pain pump form my DR. Does that tell you how much had had to wrestle with my internal organs to complete my surgery? Hence, I hope the reason for the extra swollen belly?

I'm 8 weeks post op and have never had another morning of urination problems. :-) I'm also free from the "period" that ruled my life.
