Intimate Anatomy Question

Okay ladies, I searched the site and couldn't see anything like the question(s) I am about to ask.

I have been all cleared to be intimate, but it needs to be gentle over the next couple of weeks. So, and this might be TMI but I wanted to "test the waters" and used a little aid. (I didn't want to have my first encounter with my hubby to be him extremely worried and me extremely uncomfortable if I was going to be).

So here it is, has anyone felt like their clitoris is bruised? I swear to god it was almost like I couldn't find it. Things felt "okay" internally, but the orgasm left my pelvic area achy. I get that it can take awhile for everything to turn around in that area, but I guess I need to hear if anyone else has experienced this.

Needless to say, I have made the decision to wait like DH and I had figured we would. I know that practice makes perfect, but need to not be soooo achy after our first time together, so will wait.

Thanks everyone for your input!

Re: Intimate Anatomy Question

My little area was swollen the first time.My husband commented on that. But I didn't have pain there.

I highly recommend a good lubricant the first few times, whether you think you need it or not. We use astroglide, nice without being sticky.

It gets better, trust me. Took us three or four times of being hesitant and kinds scared, but things are fine now. Actually, great.

Re: Intimate Anatomy Question

I received a packet of information from my doctor that included a booklet from the American Cancer Society called "SEXUALITY AND CANCER for the woman who has cancer and her partner"

It is also online at http://www.cancer.org/docroot/MIT/MI...irPartners.asp

Some of this information could be of help to anyone who has had a hysterectomy, whether or not they have had cancer. It's too early for me to have tried anything here - but it has given me some good ideas toward getting ready.

Re: Intimate Anatomy Question

Everything in that area felt a bit swollen to me for some time after my surgery, especially after any arousal at all. I don't remember when that stopped, but it did. I've read lots of posts here from women who felt achy for a few days after orgasm as well, so what you describe sounds perfectly normal to me. As always, check with your doctor if you have any questions or begin experiencing pain.

Re: Intimate Anatomy Question

I was swollen for a while after surgery also. My doc didn't tell me or even mention pelvic floor rest, so I tried to "test the waters" myself around three or four wks. I was really crampy and achy for a few days after wards also. The first orgasim that I had totally sucked and I was really missing the uterine contractions, but now that I am three and half post op, orgasims are getting pretty great again. I still miss the uterus contracting, but I can live w/ what it is now. I think if you are achy afterwards, you and hb made the wise choice to wait a bit. I think it's wise to try yourself also, just so you know what to kinda expect, and where things hurt and don't, right? It does get better, promise, take your time and you'll know when things are right. Best wishes

Re: Intimate Anatomy Question

Things started out "different" and disappointing but have improved. Nobody told me there was an adjustment period but there is for me. Take your time and I think everyone may be different. Good luck.

Re: Intimate Anatomy Question

hubby and I "tried", nothing internal though... it went nowhere, cried about it yesterday. Thanks for posting this, it does make me feel better.

Hubby and I have been together 19 years, I just want it to be the way it used to be. I love him more than I did then, so how did it (sex) get worse?! (I know the answer, just a little blue over it)

I also called my gyn's nurse she had a TAH as well, she asured me it will work again. She said try some wine next time. But if it still doesn't work right after a month, then to make another appointment.

Re: Intimate Anatomy Question

Kirsten,

How wonderful to be married 19 years. I look forward to saying that in another 17. I am sending big hugs your way. This site is such tremendous comfort. It is always nice to know we are not alone. It is also nice to "see" that things do get better.

Hugs,
Donna

Re: Intimate Anatomy Question

I had my 4 week checkup on Thursday and the doctor cleared me for intercourse. We waited until today and everything worked just fine. I needed lubrication, but that was the case most of the time before my TAH. (I'm almost 55) Orgasm was normal and the odd thing to me was that I felt contractions in my abdomen. I had no pain during or after.
