Spinal - anyone have experience to share?

Ladies- I am right there with you. My TAH is scheduled for Nov. 27th. Can't be soon enough. I am so tired of reaching for the pain pills every 6 hours!! I am a teacher trying to finish report cards y Monday and can't sit ant the puter long enough to get much done. So it is a few report cards, a couple hours layingwith the heating pad. What are you doing about the menopause? I can't have any hormones for 2 mos to allow the endo to completely die and get absorbed by my body. Then, we will start HRT. Any hints on the 2 mos? I too am getting scared. They said I am getting a spinal to help with the painand the idea of a needle in my spine scare sme. Anyone have any heloful reassurances? Jennifer

Spinal - anyone have experience to share?

Hi Jennifer. I just had my TAH on 11/7 and feel much better. I opted for the spinal block along with the general anesthesia because I've had a history of really bad nausea after surgery. I actually was too tensed up for the anesthesiest to do the spinal when I first entered the OR, but my surgeon said that she did a block once I was knocked out. It really did help with the pain and nausea. Also, I listened to a successful surgery CD for a couple of weeks before surgery. It seemed to really help with the anxiety before surgery and the pain afterwards. Gook luck to you.

Spinal - anyone have experience to share?

Hi,

I am not having a spinal with my hys but I did have a spinal with DS' birth. It was not pleasant and I would have taken another epidural. It caused me problems (came too far up in my chest, caused BP issues, and made me sick to name just a few). I had horrible backpain for months afterward. And I also had a touch of a spinal headache.

I hope your experience is much better but it was enough to deter me from ever having another spinal. I hope I haven't scared you but wanted to let you know my experience.
