Re: What are others doing before their surgery?

LOL. I KNOW I won't sleep the night before mine and probably not the tonight or tomorrow night either. Gonna try the ativan again tonight, though it did nothing for me last night. Plus, we've got some nasty storms rolling through with tornado possibilities, so won't be able to relax until that's gone.

Re: What are others doing before their surgery?

It is almost 12am here now, with only 6 hours before I need to be at the castle. I guess I will be a walking zombie, but at least my nerves may calm down. I do wish you the best!

Re: What are others doing before their surgery?

I didn't sleep much, but did rest in bed. If my mind want going to relax at least my body would. So far, the worst part was having the packing removed. It was the longest, roughest "umbilcal cord" ever!

What are others doing before their surgery?

12 hours later, one thing I wish I'd packed but didn't is pen and paper! I need to take notes and it would be easier than on my Droid.

Re: What are others doing before their surgery?

HI and good luck with your surgery! I still have 2 1/2 weeks to wait for mine.... trying to keep busy but wow the time is dragging ( i swear the days have never gone this slowly in my entire life lol). Are you leaving lots of frozen casseroles/meals for the troops? I am unsure whether to do that or not - hubby insists he will be fine to cook for the kids but i think he needs a reality check (has no idea what is involved in running the household lol). Keep us posted with how you go.

Re: What are others doing before their surgery?

hi ladies i had mine on the 27th vaginally no bowel prep and no shaving either and they didnt shave me either so far no complications. did have to do the 2 shower thing with the antibacterial sponge filled with soap and then after got there it was just a amatter of filling some paperwork in and getting my vitals checked and putting on the supporet socks that go to almost hips. i would recommend taking a book i had to be there at 7:45 for surgery at 9:45 which i didnt actually go in until 10:15 so i sat and read and dh came back after he dropped the kids off so we talked a bit mostly he sat in the chair beside me and slept lol. His presence was reassuring we had a prayer together before i went in so i was calm and then i woke up in recovery about 2.5 or 3 hours later not exactly sure lol i was a little out of it lol. with a nice nurse asking if it hurt and putting pain meds in my IV every time i said yes until it didn't hurt anymore then i was taken up to my room it was not near as bad as i was worried it would be. The day before i made sure my house was clean and premade and froze some meals and played with my kids. And did the stressed to the max routine lol. when they say you dont do anything for 2 weeks they are serious you tire very easy and the more I try to do the more pain i have. If i stay pretty quiet just taking little walks i don't have to take any pain meds until bedtime and then just toradol or tylenols. Wish you all the best tomorrow i know t easy to say from this side of the surgery but it really wasn't as bad as i thought it would be. You sound like you are all prepared and will do wonderfully.

Re: What are others doing before their surgery?

Thanks for the info "mystysch". I don't know about anyone else having surgery tomorrow however I had my pre-op today at 8:30am for 2 hours and then got my hair cut now I am home putting the last load of laundry in and waiting for my groceries to be delivered. Right about now...I could just throw-up....I keep reading all the threads, I have read the book and everything has been really good...no stress...but I guess it is just starting to hit me....the nurse that took my blood work today told me to ensure not to lift anything...not even 3lbs of anything...she did apparently (one bag of milk in those big bags of 3) and her bladder dropped...this was at her 5th week....she said she was feeling great...she hadn't lifted until then...she had good days, great days and some OMG bad days where she felt flush and faintish...she had to go back in and have her bladder put back in place...I did not need to hear this the day before surgery....but I guess it is a good warning...to all my fellow princesses....I can't wait until this is over with and we can all go dancing....ttyl
