A week from today

Hey guys,
Well my Laparoscopicaaly assisted vaginal hysterectomy is next wednesday, one week from today. I have to be at the doctor's office today at 1:30 then the hopsital at 3:00 for pre-op labs and pre-admin. I'm nervous about what I'll have to do then nervous about this bowel prep thing. Its funny how we are all going under anesthia with surgery and we are all worried about pooping. I already have enough stomach problems with irritable bowel to have to worry about having to poop on the 30 minute drive to the hospital on the way to my surgery. I already have diarreah because I'm nervous over everything. I got a call from the hospital yesterday telling me that my surgery was going to cost 22,000 dollars. Ok that's more than what my car is worth. Oh and by the way, the hospital would expect payment of 2,000 dollars today when I came for pre-op. I was like what, you are freaking crazy. You really can't expect this. They said something about a hysterectomy being not absolutely medically necessary. Oh yeah, I just woke up yesterday and decided by the way I think I'll have a hysterectomy next week. I'm figuring that's why the hospital didn't do it emergency when I went into the ER last sunday hemorraghing and in pain. They just sent me home with pain meds. So what is up wtih this. I'm just ready to get this crap over with.

I have IBS too... really really BAD IBS... but, it might make you feel better to know this...

I had a colonoscopy two years ago and had to do a bowel prep... I felt absolutely FANTASTIC after the bowel prep. I didn't have any symptoms of IBS for at least 2 months. As gross at it sounds, it felt good not to have stuff in there.

Also, all together, the surgery... and this is with insurance... is going to cost me out of pocket close to $3700 (after hospital, surgeon, anastieologist). My hospital and my doctor allowed me to get on a payment plan.

Ok well I just got home from my post op appointment. Not too bad. I have to do two fleet enemas the night before, and then the morning of my surgery take a shower and do a medicated douch. So I'm not stressing too bad. Just thinking of doing the enemas around 630ish so I can be in bed a decent hour.
