So glad I found you! TAH 9-24-02

Hi, everybody! I have been reading lot of posts in this forum, and have learned a lot already. I never even knew that some of my symptoms (getting up at nite every 2-3 hrs, constipation, bloating) were signs of fibroids! I have been seeing a family physician for years who said I had multiple fibroids, but that I wasn't a candidate for hysterectomy because I wasn't miserable enough!! I had given up hope for relief from my symptoms except to just keep toughing it out and pray for menopause to get over with.

Saw an OB/GYN last week, and he took one look at my sono and said, "You need a hysterectomy." I don't think he was prepared for his new patient to whoop "Yipppeeee!!!"

I am so ready for this to be over. I have had three "bikini" cut surgeries (untie tubes and 2 C-sections), so I kind of know what to expect...but, I am 20 years older and 30 pounds fatter!

What do you think my recovery will be like compared to the C-sections? I bounced back really quickly with new babies to take care of, but I wonder if I will have the motivation this time around. Any thoughts or advice??

Welcome to Hystersisters memery! We are so glad you are here! I had 2 C-sections also before my hyst and I can say recovery is different, after all you are removing organs here, BUT the pain is compareable! I had the same discomfort as far as my incision goes! And I think it does help having prior surgery because like you said we kind of know what to expect! Best of luck to you!
