Hardest Part, "continued"
Hi Joni,
I was listening to music last evening and this one of my favorite songs by Tom Petty came floating out, name of song: The Waiting is the Hardest Part
It made me think of all the Sisters (me included) that have crossed over to the other side, and keep passing on this information, I know you might be saying to yourself, yeah, easy for them to say! But, if you took a tally of all the Sisters that have said this, I think you would have about 99%. I went into surgery at 8am and it lasted for 41/2 hrs. But, I remember waking up in recovery and feeling so glad that I was still on the planet, only shivering cold, probably, because it was so cold in the OR, but, I never even remembered being in there! They gave me a shot in my IV, just before, and it was off to La La Land for me Just the way I wanted it, when I was most awake, was when I was finally in my room, and there was my DH, waiting for me, with a big smile on his face. It was 2pm! I could not tell you where all that time went, must have been the morp. pump. (that was nice). Here I am, going on 4 wks. post op. and feel too good to be true!
You, will pass with flying colors, just keep reading these wonderful words, from all these Sisters and they will make you wiser and stronger and you will have less to fear. I can tell by your words, that you are in much pain now, Just think of how much better you will feel, when you can sit down to your computer and write, (just like me) how much better you are and help another LIW just like you! There is "no" better medicine!
I will keep you in my thoughts, Love to all the Sisters!

Waiting
Linda,
I am SO glad to hear how well you're doing. It's very encouraging! (Love that Tom Petty song lately!)
I recently had a laparoscopy and was sooo scared they gave me something to relax me before the surgery and wow! Relaxed isn't the word! Anyone who's nervous (or is that everyone?) can talk to their anesthesiologist about whether this is an option for them.
All my best..
Joni

Oneth!
Susan,
I'm pretty sure oneth is a word - or at least it is now. So glad to hear you're doing well - it's an inspiration!
Take care....

things to do while waiting
Hi, all!!
What a great cheering section you all are for each other!! Have you checked out the pull down menus on the home page? There are great lists of what to pack and stuff like that. One of my favorites is titled "what I did right." I found the best things to do while I was a LIW was building my nest for recovery. I bought a couple new CDs (actually old ones...Beatles), an amoratherapy candle for stress, some massage oil (unfortunately the kind I picked makes the DHs eyes sting...too much ecalyptus or something), set up a boom box I brought home from my classroom close to the bed, bought a couple new novels and refused to start them before hand. My DH thought I was nuts but it worked for me. He would have just done everything but ... you know? Kept his mind totally off the subject. That doesn't work for me...I do better if I am doing something positive about the event that is scary.
Most of all...I spent a lot of time on this site...that really helped me the most because you all answered questions for me I hadn't even known to ask!!
Keep reading, posting and talking everything over with your doctor.
My very best to you...

Surgery is scheduled *gulp*
Hi Joni,
WOW - you sound just like me. For a minute I thought I had posted that -
I just had my hyst done 3/20 (I posted my whole story to this board instead of Post-Op by mistake - sorry).
Anyway, I just wanted to say hang in there. I had ALL the same symptoms as you. I'm not going to say it was a picnic (it wasn't) but now at almost two weeks post-op, I am feeling better and don't regret for one second everything I went through to get here.
My CA125 level was elevated too which caused my surgery to be pushed up. Needless to say I was a wreck. But thank goodness it was a false elevation most probably due to my endo and cysts (that's what the doc said).
This is a wonderful board and everyone has been such a great help here! I wish I would have found it earlier. Know I'll be thinking about you and praying for a speedy recovery.
Pat

endo on the bowel
Jan,
My doctor saw the endo on my bowel during a laparoscopy, but couldn't remove it at that time. He was trying to get a look at my ovaries but they are attached to my uterus (behind) and he couldn't see them.
Did you have that? Or know anything about it?
Joni

Glad you're doing better!
Pat,
I'm so glad you're starting to feel better! It really helps to hear the positive. I didn't read your story yet, but will look for it.
I'm really glad your elevated CA125 is due to endo / fibroids. That is such a relief!
You take care and God bless...
Joni
P.S. It DOES help when someone says "I was having the same symptoms...." GREAT site!

Joni,
The last two laparoscopies that I had revealed one ovary or the other attached to my side with adhesions. Those adhesions seem to cause as many problems as the endo sometimes.
