4 week post op TAH vaginal cuff tear

Hi! I am 4 weeks TAH laparoscopic surgery. I started to hemorrhage sunday night and was rushed to the ER requiring emergency surgery for cauterization. The blood was pouring out of me and I bleed right through the packing prior to my surgery. The doctor said the bleeding was coming from the vaginal cuff possible from a stitch that scabbed then came off or just a weak section that didn't heal properly. Did anyone ever go through this? My doctor said that it is not a common thing after hysterectomy. My hemoglobin dropped from 14 to 10 but didn't need a transfusion. I am on bedrest now but scared at the same time that it will happen again. Your thoughts?

Only time I've heard of anything like that is when ladies have sex too soon. I hate you have gone thru that and hope it's your only complication! Rest and heal!

Re: 4 week post op TAH vaginal cuff tear

There are ladies who have experienced this. Some had sex and others had it happen just as you described. I hope they will pop in and share their story.

Listen to your doctor, rest and take good care of yourself. I am sending you healing :hugs5: in the hope you feel better soon.

4 week post op TAH vaginal cuff tear

I had the same problem a week ago, at 2 weeks post-op. I just got out of the shower and started free flowing, then came the clots. It is the second experience I've had because I hemorrhaged after my LEEP as well. I'm sorry, I know how scary it can be. My doctor said while he was glad I felt so well, I was doing too much too soon. (Long story short: Pinterest, used tire, heavy lifting. Bad stuff.) I managed to not need to go to the OR this time, I got some lovely liquid sutures swabbed on my cuff.
So you are not alone, bedrest sucks!
I can't do much else now anyway, though. I'm worse off than I was with pain and fatigue. Hope you get healed well and swiftly.
