Working from home after hysterectomy

Since I am a teacher (and no one else is certified to do my subjects), I have to work (online) from home.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. It's hard not being able to be a "super mom" right now nor be the teacher my students usually rely on.

I am also totally bored, but I have limited myself to walking inside the home (5 days) and today was the first day I walked down the driveway to get the mail. Fresh air was wonderful, even if I had to walk slowly.

Re: Working from home

Walking is really great both for your physical recovery, but it is also a big morale booster, especially getting outside. I was fine working from home. I didn't the first week because I had trouble focusing, probably an after effect of the anesthesia, but after that it was fine. Just remember to get up and walk around as much as you can in between.

Re: Working from home

Working from home should certainly help with the boredom. :-) When you're sitting at the computer, remember to take frequent breaks to stand up and walk around. And don't be shy of walking outdoors, although do take it slow and keep to flat ground at first.

Besides walking and working on my computer, I also used my recovery to catch up on my reading and to take care of various small mending jobs that could be done sitting down. My recovery was in June and I spent as much time outdoors as I could, both walking outside and sitting outside for any activities that were easily portable.

Re: Working from home

I was cleared to work from home for 4 hours a day at the 2-week mark. Honestly, I could have done it much sooner, as I was checking emails, etc., from the first day home (heck, while still in the hospital).

It certainly helps with boredom, and when I returned to work, it was like I didn't skip a beat, so I didn't feel far behind.

I also met some co-workers for lunch about 3 weeks in, which was a nice way to catch up and stay in the loop.

Just make sure you get proper doctor's approval for your insurance/benefits purposes. The paperwork turned out to be a really important part of all this.
