Hi, I am due to go into surgery next week on the 25th.
I cannot tell you how incredible this board is. I just had my pre-op appt with my doc and she said "You've really done your homework!"
Cross your fingers for one possibility-she said when she gets in there and has a look, she will see if she can just move the ab muscles to do the surgery and not have to cut them. That would make recovery a lot easier!(chants, spells and bad jokes are all welcome )
Got my grab tool, my body pillows and next weekend I am cooking my low carb meals and freezing them .
You folks are the best!!

Hi Elaine,
It sounds as if you're going to be well-prepared for your recovery.
Please be sure to go back into your control panel and add your surgery date to your profile so you'll be on the calendar and will receive a special greeting from Hyster Sisters.
I'll be sending some special thoughts your way, hoping that your won't have to cut your abdominal muscles.

abdominal muscles are not cut during abdominal surgery...they are spread apart exposing the abdominal cavity and organs.

Hi Elaine,
It is true that abdominal muscles normally are not cut during hyst surgery - typically, they are spread apart. However - in some instances the muscles are cut. I know because this was my situation.
I had severe stage 4 endo. My gyn told me that he had to cut my abdominal muscles in order to get a wide enough view of my pelvis in order to get all the endo out. He was apologetic about it, but very clear that it was necessary. At one point he had suggested a vertical incision instead of the horizontal one I had ... and I REALLY didn't want that, so cutting the muscles was the solution in order for him to be able to see everything.
My point - although not typical, sometimes the muscles are cut.
The good news is I'm doing great and abs exercises have really helped me tone up!
