17 days post hysterectomy: How do I know if ovaries are working?

I'm 17 days post op from LSH surgery-kept both ovaries and cervix.. I'm wondering how I will know if my ovaries are still working? I've read on the boards that they can stay 'asleep' for a while after surgery. Are there signs that I should look for? I have not had any hot flashes or night sweats. I had my period the week before my surgery, so this is typically my PMS week and I have had no symptoms of that either.

Re: How do I know if ovaries are working?

I am 10 days post-op and I have been experiencing some hot flashes. The first one was on the 7th day and I started getting really hot and sweaty. I overlooked it until it happened 3 different times and my mom mentioned hormone therapy. I stated that I still had my ovaries but she laughed and said I needed to talk to my Dr about it. I too want to know the answer to your question.
