Post Op Exercise

I have Zumba Fitness for Wii. I've 4 weeks post op. I know I can't lift any amount of weight still (doc put my limit at no more than 15lbs but preferably 10) but what about cardio like that? Maybe a bit much if there is twisting and bending? I'm just so excited about losing 15 pounds and want to keep losing which means exercise.

Re: Post Op Exercise

My instructions are that I can walk as much as I want. I love Zumba! I was told that was off limits until 6 weeks, and to start back slow and easy, low impact and build back up to my pre-surgery routine.

Re: Post Op Exercise

I love Zumba too! I am 5 weeks post op and my Dr. had said I could go back to class at about 4 weeks but I've decided to wait a little longer as I still have some pressure in my abdomen/pelvis area and I do not want to damage anything!

Re: Post Op Exercise

I've never done it so walking will probably give me more exercise than doing it. I'm just so excited about what I'm calling my new life. I'm ready to take on the world!

Re: Post Op Exercise

I would stick with walking for the time being. I tried one of the Wii Fit balance games at about 4 weeks and was ok until I did a sudden movement. I didn't do any damage, but it suddenly produced a bit of a twinge. I think zumba would be much more strenuous on your abs.
