No appetite, everything tastes weird

I'm 8 days out and truthfully, everything has been progressing nicely. This is just a weird symptom that I'm hoping will pass quickly. I've noticed the last few days that everything tastes "weird" and strong smells are making me nauseous. I really have no appetite because nothing appeals to me. There's also a strange taste in my mouth. Anyone else experience any of this. I should mention the last pain pill I took was Tuesday night.

Re: No appetite, everything tastes weird

Are you on any antibiotics? Some of those can cause a metallic taste in your mouth and nausea. I hope you get to feeling better! Hugs...

Re: No appetite, everything tastes weird

I will be four weeks out on Tuesday and my hubby just took me out to dinner... I just said to him. Nothing taste right... Not even soda. Lol guess I didn't notice much at home cause I thought everything was just blah because I was not cooking.

Thanks. No. No antibiotics. It's really more of an annoyance than anything else.

I had the same thing, especially while on the pain pills but it still lasted for a while afterwards and just gradually went away. Hubby was very excited at first cos he thought we'd save loads of money on Chardonnay.

Re: No appetite, everything tastes weird

The anesthesia affected me for about 10 days. I talked with my doc about it at my 1 week post op appt. I was nauseated, had a weak appetite, felt physically fully very quickly, was dizzy and everything tasted "off". I was tired, scatter-brained, and a bit itchy and dry mouthed. I kept asking about these things bcuz I kept my ovaries and was afraid i was losing ovary function. He kept saying "it takes about 10 days to cycle the anesthesia out". And he was right. By about the two week mark I had my old appetite back.

Thanks ladies for the insight and chuckles (chardonnay also being one of my favorite foods). I have a 2 week post op appt, if I still feel yucky then I'll ask my dr.
