at the risk of sounding incredibly dumb I need to ask you ladies something. I keep reading posts about uterine prolapse and being able to feel your cervix. I can stand in the shower and feel my cervix if I put my finger in my vagina....does this mean I have a prolapse? My Dr has never mentioned it.

You probably DO have uterine prolapse(although I AM NOT a doctor, get a medical opinion). I have it and my doctor(s) never mentioned it until I asked about it. I noticed that the last few years i could feel my cervix was lower than it used to be. It can be embarrassing to mention it to your doc but they HAVE heard it all. I hope this helps.

as per my GP, my old GYN, and my current GYN, a dr doesnt usually mention a prolapse to the patient due to it not being a life threatening situation. and also not wanting to cause concern where concern might not be warranted..when a women starts feeling as if "something isnt quite right" and starts suffering with the prolapse symptoms (buldging in the vagina, feeling as if something is "falling out", pelvic pressure, rectal pressure, low back ache, menstrual changes, etc), she will bring it up to the physician..when this is brought to the physicians attention, the physician then knows the prolapse is (probably) at a stage where it needs to be repaired.

Vickieinsd!!
In my case my dr mentioned it when I had my tubes tied. He said everything was hanging fairly low, and make sure I do my kegels. Well, 5 yrs later and it's all coming out, getting hiked up, and repaired!! Kegels do help strengthen the pelvic floor, but doesn't seem to put anthing back into place.
