Possible Ovarian failure?

Hey All-

Day 8-I have been getting hot flashes in the nights/mornings for several days now post-op although I have my Ovaries. I've read they can 'go to sleep' for up to 3 months before kicking in again, so trying not to panic too much quite yet that they possibly have truly 'failed'. Anyone else have this sort of thing happen? Thanks for any insight to this!

Re: Possible Ovarian failure?

Day 11 for me and yes my one remaining ovary has definitely not woken up yet. I am experiencing incredible night sweats to the point where my pjs are drenched thru and I have had to change my pjs twice and even had to change my bedsheets. Also, I feel hot one moment and then cold the next and then back to being hot again.

But I am not worrying at this point yet cuz my surgeon told me it could take a couple of months for my ovary to wake up. I even asked my OB GYN yesterday and she confirmed the same....need time for the Lupron injections that I was taking prior to surgery to wear off and for the ovary to wake up. She did not want to give me hormone therapy at this point. I will keep an eye on this and will let the dr know how I am feeling at my followup appointment.

Re: Possible Ovarian failure?

Yes, mine went to sleep for 2 months. Once they woke up the hot flashes & night sweats went away. You just have to give them time to adjust to the shock they went through. Best wishes to you.

Yay...thanks for the reconfirmation of what I was told by the doctor. Its reassuring to know that your ovaries woke up and so here's hoping my one ovary will as well.
