My Dr. had mine at my 2 week appointment. There had been some confusion after my surgery as to weather they left my right ovary in or took it out. The Dr. said she took everything out but the nurses said the right ovary was left in. The pathology report was on all of my parts removed which was everything

Yes, the pathology report should detail absolutely everything that was going on with you - endo., adeno., fibriods, the number, type, location, and size of any cysts found, as well as if there were any cancerous or pre-cancerous cells present, just to name a few.

Speaking for myself, I found reading the pathology report very reassuring. They told me as soon as I woke up that I did not have cancer and while that was a huge relief, it also left me wondering if the whole surgery was unnecessary. But the path. report detailed so many other, non-cancerous conditions that I didn't know I had that I ended up feeling very glad it was all gone.

Laurie:

I had my path report at my one week post-op visit. I also received a copy, at my request. I don't know about Canada, but waiting almost six weeks in the US for path report is unacceptable. I would call your surgeon and ask if there are results, and if so if he can fax them to you or otherwise discuss them with you.

Good luck,
Catherine

When I was in the hospital, I asked my surgeon how long would it likely be to get the path report. She said about 2 wks but if she heard anything sooner she'd call. I assumed, from personal past experience, that meant if it was bad news, then I'd hear sooner.

When I saw the dr's office on my call display one week later I was frozen with panic before I picked up the phone. I didn't even hear the first few words such as 'Is this ....? Yes, well it's the dr's office and we've gotten your report back'. Then she said that everything looked 'normal' as they had been querying endometrial hyperplasia as a possible cause of the hemorrhaging. I let out a huge sigh of relief and after I hung up, I just sobbed.

I go tomorrow for post op visit and will ask for a photocopy of the report.

larina, I agree with others here that you are quite within your rights to phone the office and enquire whether or not it is back. You've waited long enough. Good luck.
