should I have it?

I am scheduled for the 8th of March. A few of my family members have questioned if I should have this. I need help. My story...I have had pms severely for several years. I'm talking mood swings, craby, grouchy, cravings, etc. The dr. has treated me with anti-depressants, vitamins, fluid pills, and the bc pill. I have also dieted and lost some weight, still no improvement. I'm tired of this mean person I am. I went for my yearly in January. I told the Dr. I'm sick of this, do something. I asked for the hyster. He told me it should work, but he said we could increase my anti-depressants first and see if that would work. I reminded him he doubled it last year.

Please, does anyone have some advice. The dr. ordered an ultrasound and found I have 2 small fibroid tumors. I am borderline anemic and my bladder has dropped some. He said the hyster would take care of that, too. I told him to take everything while he's in there, too.

help

thanks

Personally, I don't know if the hys will help with what you are describing. It could make things worse, especially mood swings.
I would DEFINITELY get a SECOND OPINION. This surgery is not for personality changes or other things you've mentioned. It is serious, major surgery. (It can also make bladder problems worse...I'll speak to that!)

I would not do it as a 'last resort' for the things you have described. Perhaps you have heard from others that have had it "Oh, I felt so much better afterwards...glad I did it"...Well, that opinion takes some time. I'm 10 weeks out TAH/BSO and I'm not there...yet. But I also had some abnormal ultrasounds (4 of them, over a couple years, to be exact).

Please think this one through a bit more...

should I have it?

I'm not sure about the depression but I do know I am an ill tempered creature. I had a TVU a year ago that was inconclusive. My periods got progressively worse until I was fighting severe anemia. I had a D & C in November with the hope that it might get my cycle back on an even keel. It didn't. I've had Aunt Flo in the house since early January. The first week of February was the worst experience I have ever had.

I called my wonderful Gyn told her the situation and said I'm ready. Start the process. She got me a quick date.

I can't wait. I'm tired of being tired. I'm tired of periods. I'm tired of the pain.

I want my life back! And I want the old ME back.
