Went in for novasure, but dr couldn't do it :(

Hi all,
I went in to the outpatient center today for a hysteroscopy, D&C and Novasure. After I got home I got a call from my surgeon saying that she couldn't do the Novasure because my uterus was 2x the size of a normal uterus and the novasure would not work....now they are going to do a uterus only hystorectomy in 2-4 weeks...I am sad because I wish she'd have just went and did it today...anyone else here that was NOT able to get novasure due to the same reason?? Please let me know thanks Tammy

Hello, I could not have the ablation done either. The doctor tried but my uterus was enlarged, tipped and had adhered itself to my abdominal wall. I had a hyst 5 weeks ago and feel pretty good. It was the best solution for my problems. Good luck,Noelle

Thanks Noelle, How'd u feel the first few days after the operation? When did the pain get tolerable so you felt like yourself, and do you have or did u have problems with stairs?

Hi, well I was in the hospital for 3 days on pain meds,so,I dont remember much. The incision pain was bearable for me,the gas pains were bad. I came home and got upstairs to bedroom and stayed upstairs for a week. Family brought me food and drink.Just took pain killers and slept and paced floor when I could. Its 5 weeks and I still am not myself. It can take months for full energy to return. Everyone is different.Let me know if you have anymore questions.Take care Noelle

Re: Went in for novasure, but dr couldn't do it :(

Hi, I had a failed attempt at Novasure as well, I tried to get it preformed last August. I did all the prep, took the meds etc and after they started the procedure they said that my uterus was too small!!!!! The wand would not deploy because of how small it was....amazing how something so small could cause so many problems!! Anyway, the whole experience due to the size of my uterus with the Novasure was less than comfortable for me, I ended up having a hysterectomy last October and I am really glad I did, I had LSH and my recovery was great, no problems at all. Yes it took me a couple of weeks to really feel like myself due to the anesthesia etc but I cant say I had "pain" just discomfort at times, especially if I stood too long or walked around too much. Good luck to you I hope everything works out well for you too!

Re: Went in for novasure, but dr couldn't do it :(

I had the thermal balloon ablation, and it was a failure. Had a LSH on July 12. Was not bad at all, I feel silly for waiting so long. I also had a posterior repair and Elevate procedure at the same time...that is a different story.
I would try to find a doctor who is proficient in minimally invasive options....I'm glad I did.
