Re: Baths

I was able to shower after a week (keeping my back to the water so it didn't hit my steri-strips directly.)

As far as an actual BATH, that wasn't allowed until I was cleared at six weeks. (NOTHING inside until 6 weeks.) I believe some of the gals here have been cleared earlier, some later. It depends on your situation. Your doctor will make the call.

Hope that helps!

Re: Baths

I second the 6 weeks. My hyster was LAVH, but I had an ovarian tumor removed a few years ago and the surgery was similar to TAH. The rule was no baths for 6 weeks.

Re: Baths

Yep, rule of thumb is no baths until the doctor clears you at around 6 weeks. Typically, the doctor will want you to be completely healed before having you bathe so for some of us it is longer than 6 weeks, for others it can be sooner.

It is best to double check with your doctor to see what is specifically okay for you!

Re: Baths

I agree Amber...that and swimming! I had TAH on 8/27 and was told I could take a sitz bath of sorts if I needed some extra relief for my vagina. (My surgery started as TVH.) Basically just soak my tissues in a couple of inches of warm water for a short bit.

I can't wait for a long soak again!

Re: Baths

6 weeks was the time before I could have a bath too. I missed taking them but I think it was mostly because I knew I couldn't
