I had my laproscopi hysterectomy yesterday and spent the night at hospital. They controlled my pain there but now I'm home and the meds they gave me aren't working. They gave me Percocet 5-325. Its like eating candy. What do i do

Re: pain

You need to call your doctor now and explain that your pain is not under control. If you can't speak to your doctor, speak to the doctor on call. He/she may increase your dose or give you another pain med. If your body is in pain it cannot heal the way it's supposed to. Did your doctor say you could take ibuprofen? If so, that may help. It did help me because it is an anti-inflammatory. Until you get an answer from you doctor, try using a heating pad or ice, see which works best for you. I'm so sorry you hurt.

Re: pain

I did exactly that. Got doc on call all he said was I could go to emergency room or take a hot shower he said that would help with gas pain in my shoulder. I told him that my shoulder did not hurt and he told me that it would be tomorrow so I will call my doc tomorrow. I am taking the ibeprothen

Re: pain

The first 3 days are tough,.. Hang in there. Make sure you are walking around when you can to help relieve gas. Do you have a heating pad and a binder? Those really helped me.

Re: pain

Definitely use the ibuprofen if needed and walk until you can get some other pain meds to help. I was given hydrocodone with acetameniphen. My Dr. told me I could alternate with ibuprofen. I did that the first three days to stay on top of the pain. I hope you find relief soon.

Re: pain

I had a TVH on Monday, so I wasn't filled with the gas, thank goodness! But last year I had gallbladder surgery using lap, lots of gas. I used gas x, did a lot of walking and was advised to drink Sprite/7-Up to help burp the gas up. Worked really well. In fact, Sprite was given to me in recovery to help bring the gas up.

Hope you get to feeling better soon!
