Re: What Has Less Complications? Open Incision or "Minimally Invasive" Surgery?

Here in th USA some are same day procedures. The only ones that aren't are the tah and many go home about 48-72 hours post op. I just think the extra Iv fluids are beneficial.

I had minimally invasive and have found recovery to be much quicker compared to the open incision abdominal surgery that I've previously had

Re: What Has Less Complications? Open Incision or "Minimally Invasive" Surgery?

I had the DaVinci on 11/14/12 and was told it would be a minimal surgery. If I had known I would have had the regular across belly cut and I think it would have been easier. I have had that cut due to dermoid cysts and it wasn't half as bad as the DaVinci. I had five small cuts however it was the most painful surgery I ever had.

What Has Less Complications? Open Incision or "Minimally Invasive" Surgery?

I had my DaVinci surgery on Jan 3rd and ended up spending two nights in the hospital due to pain and quite honestly could have stayed another two or three days. Recovery has been a lot harder than what I was expecting.

Re: What Has Less Complications? Open Incision or "Minimally Invasive" Surgery?

In my opinion laparoscopic is better but let me explain why....
With my previous surgeries they were open which created a Lot of scar tissue and ultimately caused me to need a hysterectomy.
The less thats disturbed, exposed, the less scar tissue there *should* be. Coming from someone who's experienced both types of surgery.... the unrelenting pain day in and day out- this surgery scared me but now that its over Im glad I did it.
