Weight Gain after D&C plus Mirena?

Dear Sisters,
I'm wondering if anyone here has experienced increased ability to gain weight following D&C with hysteroscopy and insertion of a Mirena IUD.

Or is it just me...and the holidays?

My post-op appointment is this Friday. Think I can lose 5 lbs by then?

Ive put on 2 stone since the insertion of the mirena in April last year. My doctor says its not the progestrone but my pcos flaring up.

Sorry in the UK one stone is 14 pounds. I have put on 28 pounds since April!

Ah yes, now that you say it I recall that it's very like the weight of an actual stone. My dd has been struggling with weight this year too. What do you understand one can do about it (short of a starvation diet) that goes deeper than just saying "diet & exercise." I asked my GYN doc about it (as she's so wonderful) and was quite surprised when she said the remedy is a serious weight loss plan. Well, yes, I thought...but that puts it all on the person with the weight gain to solve a hormonal issue with dieting...!...? At any rate, it seems to me that if the person is eating responsibly and making a good attempt at regular exercise, there's no need for guilt if the pounds come on regardlessly. Even then I imagine one can feel pretty crummy some days, such that taking good care of yourself has less to do with nutrition and exercise and more to do with not losing it on that particular day. What are docs saying about any of this these days? Are they becoming more PCOS literate? Does the Hyster Sisters book go into detail about PCOS? Thanks to anyone who can say a few words on this.
