Wow, maybe if you take the bills for 60K and divide it between the 40 years of pain free, period free life we can now have, it will seem like a worthwhile investment

wowow, reading everyones respone i had to go and actually look and read mine. I agree it depends on the state and your insurance company. I live in NC, had a lap hysterectomy uterus cervix and tubes gone. I was in the hospital from thursday @ 7pm til sat @ 13opm, Got 3 units of blood prior to surgery and 2 more units during surgery plus lab work and only have received a bill from the md and it was 4300. Sooo, Im alittle curious about the remainder, I had no robot. My insurance suppose to pay 80% and I pay 20 %.. So, go figure!!! Blessed to be alive and no more BLOODY MARYS!!!! Stay encouraged sisters

Lawd!! For that price I'd better come out of surgery with a tummy tuck, boob lift, and a face lift along with my hysterectomy. Wow!

Very grateful to have insurance. I can't begin to imagine having to pay out of pocket. The portion we do have to pay is really a small price to get our quality of life back. It's interesting to see the varying amounts though.

Um yeah, I wish. Actually I decided when I woke up from my surgery that I would never have a cosmetic procedure. If it hurt that bad to take something out, I don't want to know what it feels like to put something in. No way Jose!

Lovelyladybumps

Sorry, I missed that you'd started the same discussion that I started a week later. But, I'll add my surgery cost about $36,000 for TAH/SBO/cysts/adhesions and two nights in. Had a $300 co-pay. I've also had 3 weeks of visiting nurse care (daily wound packing) and will probably have it for about another week. It will be interesting to see what the charges for that will be like. The wound care might have saved me another hospital admission, which makes a huge difference costwise (and since I really hate going to the hospital).

I'd love to understand the rationale behind "don't discuss costs if you live in another country." It would be helpful if Americans understood what the cost differences between countries are like. Still remember and appreciate the care I got in Scotland when I got bronchitis a few years back (free doctor visit on a Saturday; paid about $15 for 2 prescriptions).

Because we have found that this discussion almost always irrupts into a hot topic one, and thus we do not allow it in order to make sure all posts maintain a tone of kindness.
