old surgery scarring a problem?

Well ladies after viewing so much here I am beginning to be concerned. I have had 3 verticle C-sections from the belly button down., and split them open once. I have a huge scar that actually seperates my lower ab. The scar is painful to touch but I always thought that was normal. Now viewing everyone here I am concerned. Should I mention this to the surgeon? Will this have an impact on my hysterectomy? This has just all happened so quickly I have not had any lengthy conversation with a doc. Only by phone.

I would definately mention the scars to your dr. I didn't have that but have heard that some surgeons will use the same place to do an abdominal hyst and actually clean up some of the old scarring at the same time. Since your surgery is scheduled for July, you still have time to discuss it and make decisions

Best wishes.

I second the suggestion of calling the doctor. Talking on the phone would be fine, but I'd try to get in for an appointment if possible. Good luck!

I had a few abdominal surguries prior to my TAH/BSO - I discussed them all witht he doctor and after surgery was told that I had adhesions all over my abdomem and that while they were doing all the biopsies etc, they cut and cleaned out as many as they could. After your healed you might find this problem resolved, but others as well.

Good Luck to you, our thoughts and prayers will be with you.

thanks so much. I will mention it and show it to the surgeon on the 11th. As far as I know I am having a robotic assisted LH. Vag or ab? I have no idea, I also have no idea what they are going to do about the cysts on my ovaries. I got the preadmit paper work yesterday and I'm supposed to send it off, yet I'm not even sure what the heck is actualy going on. They all just seem to want to do this asap. Makes it kinda nerve wracking.
