When to go back to work?

Had a LSH on Nov 20 and my doc said to take a min of 2 weeks off. Now that I just had my post-op appt yesterday, I'm wondering if 2 weeks is too soon. I feel great, but tire very easily. The nurse recommended going back gradually, but I have a very high presure job in HR and it seems that I either go back 100% or not at all. My boss is very supportive and will go with whatever I think. I should let him know by the end of this week whether or not I am coming back on Monday.

What do the rest of you ladies think? If you had a LSH, when are you planning on going back to your jobs?

When to go back to work?

I think you know your body better than anyone and if you tire easily still I would think you need to stay home until you can build up your stamnia. This is a time that you need to take care of yourself to insure that you don't create problems on down the road.

When to go back to work?

Please do not hurry back to work, especially since you feel you must be 100% when you return. Once you return, it's as if you were never gone and people, being only human, do not remember you are still recovering. Pamper the Princess and take at least two more weeks off. I was released without restrictions two weeks after my surgery and even though I went back working only half days at first, in retrospect I wish I had taken another week off.

When to go back to work?

if your boss will go with whatever you wish and you dont know if you feel up to going back, maybe you should take some more time off. it cant hurt. you might feel very different in just a week or so.

When to go back to work?

Two weeks is just not enough time to heal. You've had major surgery - and you will tire out before you know it. Stay out and get well, then ease back by going part-time for a week and then go to full time. I thought I would be back in four weeks and I am now 8 weeks due to complications. HR forewarned me that they have had several women have hysters that we out much longer than they thought they would be...most tried to come back too soon and had complications. Be very thankful that your boss is supportive. Mine is a .....ahhh...let's say jerk. Remember, your body has just gone through a tough time...and it has taken my wonderful hyster sisters to remind me of that when I am feeling down.
I will keep a special place in my prayers for you tonight.

Hugs,

Kelly

When to go back to work?

Two weeks isn't enough time I'm closing in on my 4th week and I still get tired. I went to the mall today and was exhausted by the time i got home. You should take the time to really let yourself heal.

When to go back to work?

Thanks ladies, this is very helpful. Thanks for reminding me that you only have one chance to heal. I don't want to have a relapse because I feel pressure to go back to work. Interesting enough, most of that pressure is from me!

Appreciate your support and wisdom always,
Julie

When to go back to work?

I had my LSH the end of August. My boss was very understanding, and I don't think was expecting me to come back as soon as I did, but I was going stir-crazy!

I returned to work one week after surgery. And although I planned on going back for maybe half-days at first, I found myself staying there for mostly a full day. I tended to sleep in a bit and go in later, but ended up working later, mostly because I wanted to get stuff taken care of.

I did find that I tired a bit easier for a while, but it was manageable. Mostly, I just wanted to get back to my normal activities as soon as I could.
