Over One Year Post Op-troubles
I am 32, had a vag hyster(ovaries remain) (with TVTo) Jan 11/07, 2 weeks post op-hemorraged readmitted. Came home with strep b vag infection (hopsital aquired) Bleeding remained into June, had cautery, and 4 weeks of weekly silver nitrate treatments at the top of the vag cuff. Then started with the feeling (almost) of a yeast infection. My family doc did swabs, no yeast. Did 2 yeast treatments anyway, slight relief....and then it went away. Bleeding on and off remains to this day. Sex is....well....not pleasurable....and it makes the other pain and pressure I have (which is constant) worse. Feels like I am carrying a brick around between my legs. Any lifting makes that worse too. I am not back to work yet. November/07 the creepy/crawly discomfort returned....couldn't stand, sit, sleep, wear underwear/clothes......thought I was going to go nuts. Thankfully my family doc thought, in January/08 to try a medication (lyrica-generally used for diabetics with nerve pain) and it worked!!! THANK YOU!!! However, has lots of side effects.....
My OB/GYN then thought I may have nerve entrapment related to the TVTo and send me to another OB/GYN who subspecializes in that...he says its not that....but if the Lyrica is working, it is definitely nerve pain....but that was about all he said...and would not touch on any of my other problems...my OB/GYN is now sending me to another OB/GYN who deals mostly with post-op complications from hyster and sections...so now I wait again...but I had been told that my symptoms weren't that common, then I come on here and find PAGES of women who have some, all of my symptoms.....does anyone have tales of their related to mine, and what was done, and if it helped or not....I am desperate for help!!!! This affects EVERY SINGLE aspect of my life.....and I want my life back.....

Nerve damage, anyone?
gilbert tv
I'm sorry to hear that you are still suffering. While I have not had a TVT, I was diagnosed with nerve damage following my tah/bso. It's been a long haul for sure. In 2002 I had parts of the damaged ilingual (sp? after all these years I still can't spell the name! ) nerves removed. I had some relief for awhile, but than the pain started again. My doctor suggested accupuncture. I have been going to an accupuncturist since 2003. It has been a big help!
There are meds out there to help with nerve pain. I tried a few, but was impatient and generally do not do well with oral meds. Since my tah/bso I have developed a very sensitive digestive tract and oral meds seem to upset it even more. I do use a fentanyl patch for pain and use darvocet for breakthru pain.
Before the nerve removal, I had nerve blocks done, which provided some varying degree of relief. That was what led my doctor to the diagnosis of nerve damage.
I hope you can find some relief. You are not alone

Nerve damage, anyone?
I had my problem nerves ablated via several radio-frequency nerve ablation treatments. This was done through a pain-management center at a major teaching hospital. This has relieved about 70-80% of my discomfort. Of course it took two blasted years to finally get a diagnosis and get the problems identified and it was a pain-management doctor that finally helped me in the end not an ob-gyn (I had long since given up on them). Like you, I also take Lyrica. For an added boost, Topamax might give you some additional relief from that nerve pain if you are still in significant misery. Best of luck to you!

Nerve damage, anyone?
Thanks guys! Finding this website (thanks to my husband) has been really great for me....I was really beginning to feel I was the only woman who had these miserable, life changing side effects...and then I come on here and have found pages and pages of women with some, all and unfortunately more than myself....IT is great to see what other people are doing to get through this....as I said, I am still off work, and I am a nurse....and I love my job, I have a great one....but right now, I couldn't do it, certainly not physically, mentally or emotionally. But I really do have to start advocating for myself...cause if there is anything I can do....I wanna do it.....This is not how I want to spend the rest of my life!!! I am only 32!! I have two young children, and I wanna go play with them!!! But right now I can lift, or anything, without paying dearly for it!!! This hyster is not all that I thought it would be!!!! Not at all! Thank you for your support...and I do wish you both well on your journies!
