New here -- surgery in 1 month

Hi everyone! Just found this site while searching the web. I am scheduled for a Laparoscopic Supracervical Hysterectomy in 1 month (for prolapse of an enlarged uterus), as well as cystocele & rectocele repair. I would love to hear comments from anyone who has had this particular procedure. Everything I've read is from the viewpoint of the physician -- I'd prefer to hear REAL experiences from REAL people! Thanks in advance!

I just wanted to welcome you here... you will be very pleased with all of the help and support you will receive from the sisters. I haven't had my surgery yet, but plenty of women here have, and I know they will help you sort out the real life experiences from the "case studys"

I am so happy to have found this site. It has made my life a lot easier, just to know that I am not alone in this! Although everyone's experiences differ in some ways, the wide variety of emotions you will go through have all been felt and you can always count on a sister or 10 to lend an ear!

good luck, and our prayers are with you!

I am waiting for a call back from my dr. to see if she can do the LSH. I read an ariticle in my local paper about this procedure and I'm hoping I can have it done.

Hello and welcome Please try our search engine - globe icon - upper right and search by keyword "laparoscopic" (to start with)...that might give you some posts to read regarding that specific procedure.

I had tah/bso 3/22 so can't give you specific info. about your procedure...but I'm sure there's someone that will.

Good luck...again, welcome aboard.

Many thanks for the warm welcome!

Just wanted to thank all of you ladies for your responses! I have to tell you, I have also participated in a Uterine Prolapse forum on the web, & it's VERY anti-hysterectomy. My decision to proceed with the LSH hasn't been well received ... LOL. What a blessing to find this place -- & all of you. Again, many thanks -- & many blessings to you!

I had a TVH on Oct. 19 for prolapsed uterus with both repairs done as well. It was the best decision i have made in a long while. I feel like a real person again. I have 4 kids, 1st was 10-3 and last was 11-4, he ( the last) did me in. I had prolapse after my first but only mild. At my 6 wk checkup for last baby (born 5/31/00) was told the front was of uterus was coming out (i could see it with a mirror when standing) SORRY!. Dr. gave me my options but suggested hysterectomy. I thought that was pretty drastic but as time went on I realized it was the for best.I thought a resuspension (cuz the prolapse had been very mild)could be done, so after my fourth i had my tubes tied in hosp. BOY was I wrong. I was nursing and had to wait til i was done. nursed for three months then called to have surgery done. I am so happy i had it done. I feel like a real person again. I feel great surgery went well, was home in two days. i still ache once in a while but feel like i had nothing major done to me. GOOD LUCK to you and I have to say this site is the best, I found it about a month before surgery and am still logging on and reading. Thank you everyone!!!!
