If you're scared-read this-high-risk and home OK!

I just had from a hysterectomy on Nov 10th and came home yesterday. Kept my cervix, one ovary (they found endometriosis on one-surprise!) and I had another surprise when I found out that my football-sized fibroid was actually adenomyosis (like endometriosis but on the inside of your uterus)-they also found a few various and sundry plum-to-grapefruit sized fibroids and my surgeon said that my bladder was almost 100 percent blocked by my enlarged uteri! Anyway, despite many anomolies, odd situations, and high-risk events that had me terrified, I finally came to a place of peace and I am so glad I had this done.
I was born with two uteruses, one kidney, one ureter (the tube leading from the kidney to the bladder), I have mitral valve prolapse, asthma, and I went into anaphylaxtic shock and stopped breathing on the operating table during my last operation 26 years ago (A rare 1-10,000 chance of this happening to anyone.) Was I scared? YOU BETYA! But I did lots of research, asked lots of questions, found the right surgeon and finally decided that I did not want to live with the pain, the bleeding, the exhausion, and trying to pee every five minutes. I decided to have some faith that things would go well for me. Believe me, if I can get though a hyst with my strange and scary background, you can!! Just do your homework and ask every question, no matter how trivial you think it is. Here is is , only three days after my hyst and I am already feeling better than I have in years! The post-op pain was not nearly as bad as any period pain I had (even though I have a 7 inch horizontal scar) and I had so many people of so many faiths praying for me that I had all my bases covered and felt very taken care of. I also was in very good physical shape-the yoga I've been taking for years has given me great diaphramic, abdominal, and kegel muscles which really does help. One thing-
If I had to do it all over again, I would have insisted on an MRI first. I did ask the doc for one because of my weird anatomy and he said he didn't need one. Later I found out that the MRI might have shown the andeomyosis. Had I known I had that, I would not have waited to have the operation, hoping that my huge fibroid might shrink by menopause if I could only hold out long enough. Adenomyosis does not get better at menopause. It keeps growing in some cases. In fact, my mom had a hysterectomy at 70 for this very thing-so it shouldn't have been a shock. So-this may be something you might want to check out.
I just wanted to thank everyone for the support, the information, and the caring. I made a vow to myself that when I got out of the hospital, I would write you pre-op folks and let you know that even with all my scary stuff and odd physiology, I made it through and you will, too! You will not be sorry that you got yout hyst!
I am already walking to help myself get better and my psyche is better than it has been in years! Please, give yourself this gift!

Your words of comfort have helped so much, what a wonderful post to read at this moment, as the clock is ticking away, 8 hours to go before I am at the castle.

Considering all the things they found, and you went through, I am comforted that my surgery should be a lot simpler, you made it through and sound so positive, and your healing so well.

Oh Thank You so much! I also have asthma, mytro valve prolaspe, etc. etc. I have been very nervous about this.
