Abdominal Cramping/ Colics

I had the robotic assisted hysterectomy on Nov 30, 2010. I have not taken pain medication. I have abdominal colics or cramps...is this normal? No fever, vomiting, I feel a lot of pressure in my bladder but I'm urinating fine. I finally called my doctor today and he said to stop the Colace that this medication can give one cramping. I'm desperate and can't wait to feel myself again.

Re: Abdominal Cramping/ Colics

I had a TVH on 10-25 and also had the cramping... It lasted about 2 1/2 weeks. It just takes awhile to get over the surgery

Re: Abdominal Cramping/ Colics

My Da Vinci was on 10/25. I can relate to what you are experiencing right now. I had something like what you are describing for about 3-4 weeks. I too stopped my colace and my senocot due to cramping and gas. Instead I took 2 to 3 probiotics a day, a magnesium citrate pill (from the health food store), and drank a glass of Citrucell every day along with 2-3 prunes. All of this helped!

DaVinci (robotic) surgery leaves you with a lot of gas and it takes longer than you think for it to dissipate. Hang in there - it does get better.
