Incision site red, swollen, hard as a rock, help

Hi ladies,
I'm six weeks post-op tomorrow and all of a sudden I woke up today and my biggest incision site (I had a TLH) is red, swollen, hard as a rock and tender to the touch. The incision has been closed for about three weeks now so I don't understand what's going on. Any ideas? I don't really want to call the doc unless I have to. I can't afford him. I'm nervous about this because the redness is expanding quickly. The red area is twice as big now as it was 9 hours ago.
Any info/ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Call your doctor and get this under control, fast! It could be a hematoma or abscess.

If the incision is not looking good and is getting worse instead of better, I think you have no choice but to call the doctor. You could have an infection.

Please make sure that you get to the Dr... Ithe worst case scenorio is that it could be a STAPH infection and you really don't want that to happen. Please keep us posted on your progress. Good luck to you.

I e-mailed my doc today and he told me to come in Tuesday. In the meantime I'll do what I can to not let it get worse.

Thanks again. You ladies are wonderful and I'm grateful for every one of you.

I'll let you know what's going on after I see him Tuesday.

Hi ladies,

I went to the doc yesterday and I have an infection, he said it's cellulitis. I have to take Keflex for a week and hopefully that will clear it up. The doc couldn't believe I have an infection. His words were "it's just a laparoscopy incision". I guess only big incisions are supposed to get infected. I really need to find another doc.

Thanks again for your words of advice and comfort. You ladies rock!
