call from my insurance company????
I just received a message to call a registered nurse with my insurance company. Has anyone ever got a call before their surgery from their health care provider?

Just my personal opinions here...
I do not trust insurance carriers. The nurses who call are trying to figure out ways to cut down on the cost of your surgery, and recovery time. Any information they can get their hands on is usually used against you. It can be for how to get you out of the hospital sooner, or delaying the surgery longer, etc.
I know from my own personal experience, when my sister was in the hospital having her hysterectomy, the "sweet nurse from the insurance carrier" called her on a pretty regular basis. It just never dawned on any of us that she would be the one getting my sister's surgery delayed, then getting her booted out of the hospital the following day after her surgery. She couldn't even stand up. Then once cancer was mentioned...it was a total spin. All the claims were either rejected, or the min. was paid out. All because of the disclaimer they had.
When my sister (she had Ovarian Cancer, which eventually killed her), needed medical care or intervention of some sort it was always the insurance carrier vs. us. Very sad. They had nothing to loose, but we had her life.
So, I have no respect for anyone working for that industry. It is a scam from my perspective.

call from my insurance company????
OH my Roseptl, How awful I'm so sorry your family had to go through that. I've dealt with insurance companies in the past from the healthcare provider perspective and they are a pain.
Not nearly as bad, but here's my personal experience with them. My partner has to take anti depressants or she becomes very self destructive. Her doctors found one that worked very well for her and she had been taking it for 6 months or so when the insurance company decided that the medication was too expensive and contacted her doctor to put her on a different med one that was a generic. Well, the doc agreed to it and switched her over without her consent. She didn't react well, it actually made her worse and we got into a fight one night. It made her violent. She ended up injuring me enough that I had to go to an urgent care center. All because her insurance company didn't want to pay the premium on the medication that worked for her. They have since then raised the amount of her copay on her medication to the point that she almost can't afford it.
I should say that she had never been violent before, nor has she been again. It was a one time thing. I think the whole thing was harder on her than it was on me. She felt so guilty about it even though we knew she wasn't herself during the episode. Luckily no one was hurt seriously. We are still together and she has been there for me every step of the way with my current problems.
Anyway, moral of the story, I agree, don't trust the insurance company, if they have questions for you, I would suggest that they contact your doctor's office for the information they need. To me it's all just one big racket.
