Whoa !!!!

Whoa!

Ok...54 year old here, never had any Gyn. pain or trouble. Jan. 29 went to my regular Gyn. for a screening ultrasound, checking for endometrial thickening. That was fine, but he found a 10cm (4") mass on my right ovary. CAT scan strongly suggests a dermoid cyst. Had appt. 2/18 with Gyn/Oncologist who says it is impossible to know whether it is cancerous or not until surgery.

All other organs are fine, no Gyn. cancer family history, but because of what he considers my risk factors --overweight, not having had children, diabetic--he wants to take everything out via robotic/lap/vaginal surgery Feb, 28. My pre-op is today, Feb, 20.

I was thinking he could take out only the right ovary that has the cyst. I hate the thought of losing everything. Have read horror stories about the physical, emotional, and sexual results/problems..

Does anyone have advice/experiences to share? I feel like everything is happening so FAST, like I have been hit by a brick.

Thanks in advace, ya'll...Sending everyone healthy wishes!
