Liquid Diet after surgery

In the past, when I've had any kind of abdominal surgery, the entire week after has been painful, as far as trying to eat solids and eliminate gas and solid wastes. Every time I eat solids, anything more than mush, earlier than 4 days after surgery, I get horribly sick, and start vomiting, and have to revert back to a liquid diet. I know that in order to get discharged, I have to eat some solids and pass gas... and I plan on doing that, but I would like to resume a liquid diet when I get home, just so that I can reduce the amount of pain post op, just for a week or so. I have a juicer, and would like to use it for this purpose, if possible. Anyone have any thoughts on this? I do plan to talk to my doctor about it tomorrow, as well.

Liquid Diet after surgery

i dont think i ate anything my first few days home, and when i did i sure was sorry for doing it cause it stayed clogged up in me for days and i became very ill. so i think it would be a good idea. i never had to PASS gas before i was discharged, i did however have to be able to hold down solid food. i ate very little in hospital, my dh was always there to clean my plate
