Re: Symptoms

I am also tired and feel exhausted all the time. My surgery is the 27th and I am also hoping I can lose some weight, since I now feel bloated all the time. Is it common to lose weight following hysterectomy?

Re: Symptoms

For many years I was told that I was just depressed and that was the reason for me being so tired and sleeping (if possible) 12-16 hours on my days off. I have been on all kinds of meds for anxiety, depression, mood swings you name it I've been on it. The pain got so bad one year that I went to the doctor 6 times in one month. They told me that it was normal, that some women (especially those having children early, like me at 17) have more issues with the pain and the moods. They finally after 5 years of me complaining and eventually ending up in the ER gushing blood, decided to run some test and do an internal ultrasound. Guess what they found, tumors (non cancer) and cyst along with major scar tissue ahearing to my uterus. Once I had the surgery I felt like a million bucks. Sadly that only lasted a few years and now I'm back to the pain (the week before, the week of, and the week after), depression, anxiety, headaches. I am hoping when I go to see the specialist that she will take me serious and acknowledge that this may be the road I need to take to become pain free. Although a scary road, I am ready to try anything to get rid of the pain.

Re: Symptoms

Here goes...

Cramps - horrible before surgery, GONE after surgery
Fatigue - all the time before surgery, only if I overdo it post-op
Weight - I've lost 20#s thanks to bloatedness being GONE post-op!
Post-Op Gas: Yes, it, lasted for a couple of weeks until I stopped the pain meds. Gas-X is the best thing ever!!!

Re: Symptoms

SO tired...almost too drained to even type this! 10 days until my "castle" visit, and i'm counting on getting my energy back after recovery... i think the anticipation & emotional roller coaster is EXHAUSTING even IF i was physically healthy; i just keep telling myself this is a normal part of the process; also feels like someone kicked me in the back on my right kidney it's been ACHING since april... I can't even sleep on my right side
good luck & keep positive!

Re: Symptoms

I had constant fatigue prior to my surgery, along with daily indigestion, a constant feeling of heaviness in my stomach, & just plain being uncomfortable. Since my surgery I have noticed that I no longer need the daily Pepcid or Tums at all, I am still tired, but it is a different tired-more of an end of the day tired not constantly. I expect that will improve as I continue to heal. I did have a few phantom cramps the first month after my surgery, but am feeling great now. I am so happy I had this done & am looking forward to having my life back! Good luck to all of you waiting to go in yet-trust me the waiting is harder than the actual surgery. Also, I have lost about 15 lbs & counting, even with my swelly belly .
