12 days post hysterectomy: Rough day - Pain/asthma
No clue how much of my rough day -worse as the day went on - is from leaving the house to see doc yesterday, and how much is from the asthma coughing attacks I am getting, all I know is I am getting some icky pains in stomach - pelvic area, and my back.
I usually HATE begging folks for any sympathy, but BOY I sure could use some virtual hugs while I wait for the T3s to kick in.

Re: 12 days post hysterectomy: Rough day - Pain/asthma
Can you call your asthma dr and ask for a short steroid burst? My asthma flared up a couple of days post surgery (very common), it wasn't to the point where I would normall resort to taking steroids, but because of my fear or opening an incision, I took a smaller, shorter than normal dose and nipped it in the bud. I urge you to call your dr, you will feel so much better! Btw, my allergist told me that if I ever needed future surgery, I should let her know before and we would work out a plan for after.

Re: 12 days post hysterectomy: Rough day - Pain/asthma
UnfortunatelyI do not have a specific asthma doc.
But my GP is usually amazing! Normally Spring and Autumn I need to take the Prednisone for 5 days. BUT even with the proactive dosing of antibiotics I got in hospital, doc does NOT want me to have that due to the lowered immune function when I take it.
SO, for now my Advair (which I believe has steroid? I can't remember. heh) has been doubled until under control.

Re: 12 days post hysterectomy: Rough day - Pain/asthma
Thanks all.
*knock on wood* Don't want to jinx anything, but it seems to be slowly coming under control with the T3 and upped Advair. Did wake this morning with very clogged lungs, but since the first 10 minute coughing fit, I haven't had any. Still a bit achy, but even that is not as bad as last night.
*whew*
This recovery thing in an older age is not fun. Should point this out to surgeon "THIS is why I wanted it TEN YEARS AGO!" hehehehe
Ahh well, over and done now. Just a matter of relaxing. Which is hard! Kinda sexy having hubby do the housework.
