Question about Lupron and surgery

After reading something on the site today about the Lupron shot it suddenly dawned on me that because I had a Lupron shot before I had surgery (which didn't seem to work because I started to bleed even heavier), which supposedly puts me into menopause for 3 months, is that why I am having hot flashes??? I asked my Dr. to keep my clean right ovary so I would go into menopause gradually on my own but because I had the shot am I not in menopause now (at least for the 3 months)???

Re: Question about Lupron and surgery

Hot flashes can occur for anyone following a hysterectomy. They can be a result of hormonal imbalance which can happen when the ovaries spit and sputter when their blood supply is interrupted during a hysterectomy. I had hot flashes for months following my hysterectomy, mixed in with PMS symptoms! It was quite a wild ride until everything settled down! I was sure glad to visit my parents for Christmas that year as they have snowy winters and I had to step out on the porch in my bare feet to cool off!

If your ovary is still "under the influence" of the Lupron, then yes, you could be having hot flashes because your ovary is still not functioning properly because of the pseudo menopause.
