TAH: anyone get period day b4 tah surgery?

More than likely, your surgery won't be canceled! However, do let your doctor know that you expect your period for surgery. There are some doctors who do postpone the surgery for some of their patients, generally if there is some major anemia involved.

But in general, being on your period is not a problem! In fact, some of us won't stop bleeding which is why we have surgery in the first place! I went into OR for my first lap bleeding, and I went into OR for my hysterectomy bleeding! It wasn't a problem either time and the staff at both medical facilities handled it very sweetly and discretely!

I'm scheduled for the 24th, my period is due same day. My doctor told me not to worry about it, she said it doesn't matter if I'm at the beginning of it, in the middle or at the end. I hope it waits just one day. But I've been exactly 30 days between periods last few months and the 24th is day 30 from the last one.
Won't hurt to call and just double check though. Good luck and I wish you a speedy recovery.

It won't be canceled. I had my period the evening before my surgery. So......Due to surgery, you can say it didn't quite last a full 24 hrs)

thanks for the info feel better now dr called at 9pm to wish me luck and see how i'm doing but of course due to bowel prep guess where i was? lol I thought that was a nice gesture though

my doc called me the evening before my surgery as well, just to check on me and see if i had any last minute questions...it is comforting.

Good luck!!! We will see you on the other side of the site in a few days. I was on my period during surgery. Doc said they would watch me closer for loss of blood but I didn't have any problems. I woke up and have not bleed again!!
